6th Annual Taste of the Eastside Wine & Hors d’oeuvres —Thursday, Sept. 20th from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  Silent Auction, music, wine and favorite samplings from area restaurants.  Advance tickets $25.00-available at Furlong’s Liquor or $30.00/at the door.  Don’t miss this one!!

Oktoberfest Beer & Wine Tasting—Oak Marsh Club House—Oakdale—Thursday, October 11th!!  6:00—8:00 p.m.  $20.00 at the door.  Be there or be square!! 

 

 

Chilean Aflajores (cookie w/carmel center)

1/4 cup plus 3 T. butter

1/4 cup plus 3 T. sugar

1 egg, beaten

3/4 cup plus 2 T. flour

1 can sweetened condensed milk

       Cream together butter and sugar.  Add egg and flour and mix well.  Drop by small tsp onto cookie sheet.  Pat with floured bottom of a glass.  Make into very thin little circles (half dollar size).  Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes, until just golden brown on the edges. 

      In the meantime, cook the sweetened condensed milk (the entire can up-opened) in a large saucepan, cover with water.  Bring to boil and simmer 2 hours.  This turns into caramel.

      Sandwich two cookies together with the cooked condensed milk.  Yummy!!
