Text Box: Straight from the top of the Cascade Mountains comes our first selection for June—2004 Riesling from Snoqualmie Vineyards. This vineyard lies in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains and receive just 6-8 inches of rainfall annually. Soils are deep and sandy with low water-holding capacity and are nutrient poor, which encourages fruit development rather than vine growth. Warm, sunny days and cool evening temperatures create ideal conditions for intense aroma, flavor and acidity development in the ripening grapes. Riesling grapes were harvested in late September. After a gentle pressing, the fresh juice was inoculated with yeast to initiate fermentations, which lasted 22 days at a carefully maintained 50 degrees to preserve the fruit forward flavors and aromatics.
This soft and creamy wine is very fruit forward—aromatic wine with hints of spice bursting with apricot and peach in the mouth. Sweet and mellow. This wine will pair well with pasta with grilled chicken or scallops. Retails for $8.99/bottle.

Let’s start the summer off right—we thought we would serve you up a canoe. Canoe Canoe?? We are very proud to bring you this next selection. It is Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon from Canoe Ridge Estate. Canoe Ridge was formed 12 million years ago when a powerful river of lava flowed across the Columbia Valley. The ancient lava flows followed the Columbia River and left huge layers of basalt behind. Deep, free-draining sails sit on top of the basalt, deposited by great floods from the last Ice Age 13,000 years ago. The soils are a loose, sandy loam scattered with chunks of basalt. Young vines in search of water and nutrients easily establish deep root systems here. The Vineyard is planted on the south face of the ridge that rises 950 feet above sea level. The steep slope and the vineyard’s proximity to the river alleviate frost pockets and seasonal temperature extremes. They experience an extended growing season and which adds more character to the grapes. The ripened grapes are destemmed, crushed and inoculated with various strains of yeasts to maximize complexity. Aged for 22 months in French and American Oak.
Intriguing aromas of red fruit, vanilla, cedar, and cola lead to a complex blend of concentrated cherry and red ripe fruit around a core of firm acidity. This will be the tightest wine you will experience in awhile—making you thirst for more. Serves up well with venison, pork or beef. Retails for $24.99/bottle. Enjoy!!
