CHEESY SAUSAGE STRATA   (Pairs nicely with the Chardonnay featured this month)

1/4 lb hot Italian sausage

1/4 lb mild Italian sausage

1/2 onion chopped

2 cups breadcrumbs (I like Tomato/Basil bread found at Rainbow in Bakery)

1/2 lb mozzarella cheese—grated

4 eggs

1 & 1/2 cups whole milk

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/8 tsp nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Cube the Tomato/basil bread and put on cookie sheet and put in oven for about 5 minutes.  Grease 9 inch square baking dish.  Spread bread cubes over bottom of dish.  Brown sausage and onion in a large skillet.  Top bread cubes with sausage and cheese.  Beat together the remaining ingredients and pour over cheese and sausage.  Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes until lightly browned.  Let stand 5 minutes before cutting.
