Text Box: So what is happening in the Argentina wine world?? Previously, Argentina Wine Makers would concentrate on producing large quantities of wine for their domestic consumption. They now are producing higher style/quality of wines for exporting. Famous Wine Masters from around the world are investing their expertise and money in Argentina. Our first feature is the Pascual Toso Chardonnay. This fine wine is harvested by hand during February/first part of March. The Vineyard is located in the District of Barrancas, in the Department of Maipu, Mendoza, one of the major wine making areas in the province. It is produced in a stony clay based soil. Winemaking or vinification is carried out in stainless steel tanks. Modern technology is used in the fermentation process. When the low temperature fermentation, developed using selected yeasts is complete, a fresh and very fruity wine is obtained. Fresh aromas of pear, honey and vanilla are concentrated. Pleasant in the mouth—velvety smooth, like honey. Well integrated flavors. Pairs well with seafood or poultry. Retails for $10.99/bottle

Time to seduce your senses . . . This is a very very nice surprise from Argentina. It is a real powerhouse!! We like to think of it as a ’Derek Boogard’ in a bottle. (Minnesota Wild Hockey Player). It won a Gold Medal in the World Wine Championship for the Best Argentinean Red. This one will stack up against any wine we have ever tried. When you think of Red-think Malbec. The best wines of Argentina are red. The major region is Mendoza—which produces 75% of all wines coming from Argentina. Malbec is the best quality grape planted in Mendoza.
Introducing the Bodega Norton 2004 Privada, Mendoza. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot. Deep garnet purple color. Toasty mocha, dark chocolate, and baked berry aromas. Follow through to a sathy, dry, medium to full bodied palate with berry tart and mocha, Spanish red pepper, and mineral flavors, with a long peppery spice and cocoa finish. Perfect texture on this one!! Very complex—multidimensional-very good!! Very low tannins. This one keeps opening up—keeps unfolding. Our compliments to the Wine Maker!! Will pair excellent with grilled beef, leg of lamb or a starry night out on the deck. Retails for $20.99/bottle.
