With this first fine selection, you are going to fall in love all over again . . . It is the Nerola White 2003. A contemporary wine, produced by the latest generation of the Torres family. It is featuring 80% Xarello and 20% Garnacha grape varieties. Starts off with a beautiful golden translucent color—only to be topped by its taste and aroma (tangerine, apple and peach). This wine is so refreshing — on the pallet it is crisp and bursting with tropical fruits with spicy notes of cinnamon. Oak contributes to its aromatic complexity with hints of lactic toast and vanilla. Its dense, smooth palate retains all the freshness of the fruit. This wine will pair well with a wee bit of seafood and a smiling leprechaun. Retails for $17.99/bottle. Our next selection is the Finca Antigua La Mancha Crianza 2001. This fine wine scored 85 points in the Wine spectator. Furlong’s was privileged to purchase the last of the vintage special for our Wine Club. Powerful, but oh so smooth!! Don’t rush this one—pour it in a larger balloon-shaped glass, allowing it time to breathe. Pour about half full, leaving plenty of room to swirl so that its aromas and flavors come alive as they mix with oxygen. This brilliant deep ruby red wine is bursting of blackberries and cherries. The finish is tasty, thanks to the fine tannins from the grape and wood that are perfectly assembled. Has a clean, spicy, velvety finish. This wine will make many of my Irish friends smile when they pair this with a hearty reuben sandwich or a grilled steak or strong medium-dry cheese. Retails for $12.99/bottle. |
