Heat up your heart with this first selection—the Cantena Malbec 2003!!  This is a powerful wine with a lot going on.  The grapes for this wine are sourced from the Altamira, Uxmal and Angelica Vineyards.  The soil in these vineyards consists of sand and shallow clay, over a stony subsoil.  Ideal soil and climate conditions, together with meticulous pruning, irrigation and canopy management produce low yields of small berries with very concentrated fruit flavors.  Nicolas Catena and his winemaking team at Bodega Cantena Zapata, use their creativity in the intricate process of blending grapes in order to craft the final wine.  Ripe blackberry, plum and  cherry linger on the pallet  with a long smooth finish.  Complex wine w/a delayed dry finish.  Let this one breathe (if you can wait).  Retails for $21.99 and is an excellent  choice to be served with a thick hearty T-Bone steak.

Our second pick is the Alamos Chardonnay 2003.  This fine wine was included in The Wine Enthusiast Top 100!!  The grapes for this wine are sourced from high altitude vineyards in the Tupungato and Agrelo districts.  The cool evening temperatures allow for prolonged hang time, preserving the fruits full spectrum of aromas and flavor.  Good pear and banana notes as well as some vanilla.  Gorgeous fruit, a creamy texture and good length make this Chardonnay a steal.  Everyone’s favorite, the richness and intensity of this wine is unbelievable for the price.  Great  buy at  10.99 bottle. Perfect match served with king crab legs or shrimp scampi.
